This October, Rubi went to the IPON (Indigenous Peoples Observatory Network) annual meeting to represent UNBC and the Environmental Change Research Group (ECRG) supervised by Dr. Tristan Pearce. Rubi's Masters research focuses on working with Indigenous communities in Peru to evaluate adaptation strategies implemented to address climate risks .This annual meeting she attended reunites IPON researchers every year and this time, it was held in the Central Amazon of Peru, where we visited a couple of Indigenous Communities from the Ashaninka Indigenous Peoples. We visited the place where they live, and they taught us about the importance of their connection to their land. They also shared their food and their traditional dances, showing us their unity as a community. Besides visiting the communities, we also had workshops where we discussed each of the research projects' methodologies and procedures from the researchers' work from different parts of the world. We also discussed the future projects of IPON.
